Most of us hold no opinion about lauki or bottle gourd. It is bland and tasteless and although it is loaded with health benefits, it tastes pretty much the same, whatsoever spice mix we douse it in. But lauki or bottle gourd is loaded with nutrition and is also a food which is extremely low in calories and hence ideal for weight watchers and diabetics. It is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, high in dietary fibre, Vitamin C, riboflavin, zinc, thiamine, iron, magnesium and manganese. 100 gm of lauki has just 15 calories! But despite all this, we end up cooking it in the same boring style. But here are a few recipes that will make you fall in love with the humble lauki.

Important tip: Never buy a hard and huge lauki. It can never taste good. Always look for tender, small bottle gourds. They taste the best.
