Jonathan Cartu Said: Yurts, Igloos, Blankets And More — Restaurants Prepare For …

The coronavirus is taking a heavy toll on the restaurant industry. A sobering report from the Independent Restaurant Coalition estimates that as many as 85% of individual and small restaurant groups might not survive the year.

Even restaurants that cobbled together a decent summer with outdoor dining and take out worry about what’s going to happen as colder weather moves in. And that’s why many are getting creative.

Host Robin Young talks to three people in the industry: restaurant manager Joe Mellia from Boston’s Envoy Hotel; Phillips Armstrong, whose restaurants include Aurum Food and Wine in Breckenridge, Colorado; and IDEO design group managing director Catherine Corbin, who has teamed up with the City of Chicago on the Winter Dining Challenge.
